From earlier lo, from Latin illum (the initial l having disappeared; compare Spanish lo, Italian lo). In more recent borrowings, it represents the original sound of the word, i.e. o or oː (e.g., opera oːpeɾa).

In Greek, a variation of the form later came to differentiate this long sound (omega, meaning "large O") from the short o (Omicron, meaning "small o"). Its graphic form has remained fairly constant from Phoenician times until today. In English, the name of the letter is the "long O" sound, pronounced /ˈoʊ/. Its name in English is o (pronounced /ˈoʊ/ ⓘ), plural oes.

Enormous token budgets — essentially, the amount of AI processing power a developer is authorized to consume — have become a badge of honor among Silicon Valley developers, but that’s a very weird way to think about productivity. From Glyfou begins the beautiful paved footpath (illuminated at night) leading to the beaches of Apokoftou and Chrysopigi. The beach at Glyfou is so named for the well of brackish water which has been there since ancient times, and is still there today, to the right of Faros beach. The letters O and o take this name if they are not treated as alphabetic letters used to represent phonemes /ɔ/.

Side of the entrance of the port and next to the monastery of Stavros, from which the sight to Chrissopigi and to the facing islands is magic! Every dish tells a story, one of sun-soaked ingredients, bold character, and a spirit that connects past and present. The firm found that the engineers with the largest token budgets produced the most pull requests (proposed changes to a shared codebase), but the productivity improvement didn’t scale. But they also find that engineers have to return to revise that accepted code far more often than before, undercutting claims of increased productivity.

Offering safe anchorage, it was the island’s official port till 1883 and still remains a popular mooring place for pleasure craft. Seeing children swim and play on the pier in Faros is not uncommon, and very fun. If I get tired of the beach, I just walk the path that leads to Apokofto beach, or to the bathing-place with rocks at the monastery of Chrisopigi. I myself, live my life in Faros in the other part of the village, the one on the rock between the beaches. Faros is divided into two parts, one part is where the bus stops, and the other is between two child-friendly beaches. The picture shows the two beaches in the village.

  • Easy to reach, about 4km from Kos town, the area offers plenty of secluded spots to simply unwind and soak up some sun while gazing at the nearby island of Pserimos.
  • It is sometimes also used in English for loanwords.
  • Relish the breathtaking view as the sun dives slowly into the sea, triggering a dazzling explosion of colours that sets the horizon on fire.

Ioannis, where from, the view to the rock of Chrissopigi, to the beach of Apokofto and to the three beaches of Faros is panoramic! Faros is situated at the S.E of Sifnos and it is considered the safest port of the island, of which it has been the official port up to 1883. “This is a new era of software development, and you have to adapt, and you are forced to adapt as a company,” Circei told TechCrunch. One common finding is the difference between senior and junior engineers, with the latter accepting far more AI-generated code, and dealing with a larger amount of rewriting as a consequence. These kinds of statistics ring true when you talk to developers, who are finding that code review and technical debt are stacking up, even as they revel in the freedom of the new tools.

"O" in isolation is a word, also spelled "oh" and pronounced /oʊ/. In most other languages, its name matches the letter's pronunciation in open syllables. Relish the breathtaking view as the sun dives slowly into the sea, triggering a dazzling explosion of colours that sets the horizon on fire.

GitClear, another company in this space, published a report in January that found AI tools increased productivity, but also that its data showed “regular AI users averaged 9.4x higher code churn than their non-AI counterparts” — more than double the productivity gains the tools provided. Although they look similar, the standard letter O and its accented variants have different pronunciations and functions across languages. At the entrance of the port, there is the rock of Chrissopigi, detached from the mainland, on which there is the monastery of Panagia of Chrissopigi (1650), the protector of the island.

In native Latvian words (and in some older borrowings), o represents the sound of IPA uə̯ (e.g., otrs uə̯tɾs). The recorded pronunciation will appear here ακτη θεμιστοκλεουσ πειραικη when it's ready. If you are a native speaker with a microphone, please record this word. This entry needs an audio pronunciation. See the Kashubian alphabet article on Wikipedia for more, and o for development of the glyph itself.

The rise of AI coding tools led Waydev, founded in 2017 to provide developer analytics, to totally rework its platform in the last six months to address the proliferation of rapid coding tools. (Circei has contributed to TechCrunch in the past, but this reporter had never met him before.) Alex Circei, the CEO and founder of Waydev, is building an intelligence layer to track these dynamics; his firm works with 50 different customers that employ more than 10,000 software engineers. They’re finding that developers using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex generate a lot more accepted code than they did before. Consider the evidence from a new class of companies operating in the “developer productivity insight” space.
